Sturdy wood, metal hinges and durable plastic handles, knobs and other parts will make this product last a long time. The gender neutral colors and wood grain finish are just awesome. This is not one of those girlie looking pink sets made out of plastic. You wait until you see the look in your young chef's eyes when they see this kitchen set. It will be the look of awe and realization that a there is some real playing potential to be had with this set-up.
Other family members gave play pots, pans, dishes, and food to go along with the set. Some small towels to go along for drying hands and clean up are a great idea. It was so much fun because it's just like a real kitchen only smaller.
I strongly recommend this product for your young chef and happy cooking!

They told us to call hayneedle. Hayneedles now says they won't process return because it is more than 30 days. So, the short story is, they sold a defective product, they can't fix it, they won't return it, and we are out a lot of money with a half assembled kitchen and no b-day present for our 4 year old. Found as I was assembling this that the latch to the oven door was broken. Used customer service numbers which came with product and they are sending it, so I am pleased with that. Otherwise the quality of the product is really good and whilst a bit time consuming, it was OK to put together.

This kitchen is absolutely adorable. It's smaller than I had imagined, though. But I checked the dimensions against other toy kitchens and I guess it's an average size. It is very well- constructed. I love putting things together- bookshelves, desks, cribs, whatever. This kitchen is very time-consuming to assemble, yet very easy. All of the parts fit together perfectly and the screws go in smoothly. The instructions are in picture form and easy to follow. Find your shortest handled Phillips screwdriver, though- there's not a lot of room inside those cabinets for an average sized screwdriver! And forget the drill, unless you have some special attachment that lets you work in tight spaces. The holes are all pre-drilled, though. I never needed my drill, and my hand never got tired of turning the screwdriver. Do not empty out the package of hardware. Just leave it in the handy pre sorted packet and remove stuff as you need it. Oh, my boy is going to be so happy that Santa brought him his "toy keechen wif wash 'chine"!
